Abitalia have recently completed this not so stereotypical Cotswold house - a stunning balance between refined contemporary details and the organic materiality of the stone. Abitalia’s involvement in the house over looking Cheltenham; included the designing and installation of the kitchen, utility kitchen, bathrooms and wardrobes, as well as supplying the stone flooring. 
 

This bespoke kitchen by Effeti was handmade in Tuscany finally delivering an outstanding, timeless finish. The kitchen being left with a lacquer custom finish leaving a shine and subtle reflection of light throughout the kitchen creates a contemporary living space for our client fit for cooking and entertainment. The main feature of this stunning kitchen is the marrone stone cladding which completes the wall. Our clients kitchen was installed with the complete set of Gaggenau appliances. The beautiful centre piece of this gleaming kitchen is of course designer Santambrogio glass table which seats 8 people as shown above and again creates space and light throughout the kitchen.

Dani Marmi’s flooring was fitted throughout the contemporary Cotswold house. The 20mm stone tiles sized 800x800 which are the Quarzite Marrone span across 200 square metres of the ground floor. The house as a final piece was left with a smooth and clean cut finish much like the tiles leaving a unique contemporary feel.

The exterior of the house magnifies the beauty of the surrounding area emphasising on the contemporary design of the house. The glass doors create peace and serenity inside and outside of the house leading you out onto the balcony where you can view the picturesque scenery in your own comfort. The contemporary outdoor furniture carries out the minimalistic design into the outdoors. Gandia Blasco’s ‘Flat’ collection of outdoor furniture which is available from Abitalia is now the centre piece of the balcony overlooking Cheltenham.

Designers are rarely given the privileged oppurtunity to work on such a high level project. When asked almost two years ago to produce the plans and design for this house we were delighted, as alongside the client we too are able to enjoy the feeling of accomplishment as the overall project was a beautiful addition to Ham Hill.

Abitalia is a small family run contemporary furniture and interior design studio based in Cheltenham. We design interiors 360º meaning we design and install furniture for kitchens to bathrooms, lighting and flooring.  Our projects are largely residential clients both private and developer.

We are looking for an enthusiastic graduate in architecture or interior design, who has a real passion for design. The successful candidate needs to have the ability to handle technical details, yet be a good communicator. A positive and driven attitude, with a strong sense of motivation is required to develop ideas and contribute to our business.

The successful candidate will eventually design, develop and manage interior projects. Being a small business you will need to be versatile, so the candidate would be involved in other tasks such as graphic design (including writing blog posts for our website and social media).

The full time position is ideal for graduates seeking first-time industry experience. Though work experience within the industry is an advantage, it is not a requirement. We are looking for someone with a good work ethic and a good sense of humour.

Skills required

• a good degree in architecture or interior design
• confident and enthusiastic, with a desire to learn 
• excellent design and spatial planning skills
• excellent time management and organisational skills
• competent in SketchUp and LayOut/AutoCad/Photoshop/Excel/Word/Mac
• a knowledge of Dreamweaver, Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter is ideal
• excellent communication skills in English. Fluent in Italian is a bonus

Currently in our studio ready to be shipped to our client’s jewellery shop in London, is the Moooi burnt chair (pictured) designed by Maarten Baas. The chair is finished with fire, with a epoxy resin to seal the beauty of the burnt wood. Have a look at the video on Moooi’s website. We’re big fans of Moooi’s creativity. In April 2012 Axo Light launched a new collection of LED lighting which will be available from September 2012. The collection includes 360 degree lighting where the technical and emotional side of lighting are considered hand in hand. 

The collection is perfect for the technical sector of Interior Design, where Architects or Lighting Designers pay close attention to the aesthetics of lighting as well as the scientific.

Indoor and outdoor products will be available, all with a high efficiency LED output. 

Contemporary Italian lighting company Foscarini produce lighting that enhances every space with their unique design. 

When thinking outside of the norm, Foscarini lights can produce extraordinary effects, like the Tress floor standing lamp that has been hung horizontal in this exceptional exhibition (pictured).

A brand new collection of fireplaces from contemporary Italian manufacturer Falper, designed by Giovanna Talocci. 

Beautifully slim, minimal shapes that bring light and warmth to everyday spaces inside the home and outdoors.

The collection of freestanding fireplaces are available in a range of different colours and can also be made to specific dimensions, something that Falper are widely popular for. 

Both collections feature planters that can be also be fully personalised in colour and dimension.

The great British summer time is up on us, beginning with the most rain the month of June has ever seen.

However we hope these beautiful photographs from Gandia Blasco help transport you to a much warmer climate, as they do us. 

Gandia Blasco are a Spanish contemporary outdoor furniture company and the set of photographs above are from one of the brands latest projects in Belgium.

Featuring crisp bright white seating from the Na Xamena collection, it is the effortlessly beautiful 356 chaise longue that seamlessly brings the furniture and swimming area together.

Abitalia have recently furnished a contemporary new build show home in Cheltenham. One of ten homes, the development lies in the Charlton Kings area of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

The modern kitchen has been designed, supplied and installed by Abitalia. With contrasting dark wenge tall units along the back wall, the white matt lacquer base units and breakfast bar open up the space. An Abitalia kitchen similar to the one featured with Siemens appliances start from £10,000.

The room has been finished with a black glossy Flos Spun lamp, £689 and Bross Italia wenge bar stools, £798 each.

The dining area is kept light and fresh with a matt white dining table by Novamobili, £1,419 and glossy white ‘Him and Her’ chairs from Casamania, £906 each.

The living room composition ‘Subtle Charm’ from Italian manufacturer Novamobili is made up of a fantastic wall storage system. With open and closed storage for DVD’s, books and games, all electrical equipment can also be neatly stored away. The composition is finished in matt white lacquer and contrasting white foil wrap, £3,400.

The BPA International Dave sofa with scatter cushions and full removable covers, £4,000 and the BPA Jill chair, £5,800 in a tan leather work great with the wooden flooring and neutral tones of the walls and furniture.

The finishing touches to the room include the Tress floor standing light in white from Foscarini, £1,160, and the Calice low round coffee table from Glas Italia. With a beautiful blown glass engraved leg and black glass top, £1,110. The I+I Shine rug is 2x3m square in a black polyester fabric, £1,632.

Abitalia supplied the bed frames, built in wardrobes and accessories for all three of the bedrooms (excluding curtains, carpet and bedspreads).

The master bedroom consists of the Novamobili Line bed in a matt lacquer finish with side tables and headboard, £5,268.

Accessories include the Pedrali Queen chair, £100 and the Flos Spun Light, £595.

The second bedroom includes a Novamobili double bed frame with two bed side tables and low headboard, finished in a white foil wrap, £3,070.

With the large floor to ceiling window, the second bedroom is finished with a Novamobili Odette mirror, £405 and Knoll Tulip chair in black, £888.
